Fourth Cliff Family Recreation Area is a 56-acre oceanfront military retreat located in Humarock (Scituate), Massachusetts. Operated by the 66th Force Support Squadron at Hanscom Air Force Base, the property sits atop a coastal bluff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, with views of both the North and South Rivers. The setting offers a quiet New England shoreline experience exclusively for eligible members of the military community. The resort operates year-round, though availability is more limited during the winter months. Eligibility & Access Access is restricted to authorized military and Department of Defense ID cardholders and their eligible family members. This includes active-duty service members, reservists, retirees, DoD civilians, certain contractors, and qualified disabled veterans. The facility is not open to the general public. Lodging & RV Options Fourth Cliff offers several types of accommodations: Cottages – Multi-bedroom units with full kitchens and outdoor deck space. Chalets – Two-bedroom layouts with kitchen facilities. Efficiency Units – Smaller accommodations with kitchenette setups. RV Sites – 11 full hook-up spaces providing water, sewer, electric, and cable connections. Seasonal Tent Sites – Available during warmer months. Each lodging type varies in occupancy limits and seasonal features. Amenities & Recreation The Recreation Hall serves as the central gathering area and includes indoor games and seasonal food and beverage service. Outdoor amenities include direct beach access, fishing opportunities (license required), and a maintained playground area. Rental equipment such as kayaks, canoes, fishing gear, grills, and propane cookers is available. Campers have access to a seasonal bathhouse with showers, as well as a coin-operated laundry facility. Certain designated lodging units allow pets, with standard leash and supervision requirements. Reservations & Contact Booking windows vary based on eligibility category, with active-duty personnel typically receiving the earliest reservation access. Reservations and inquiries are handled through the Fourth Cliff office during standard business hours.
