Camp Dawson FamCamp
Overview
Camp Dawson RV Sites sit on the banks of the Cheat River at the West Virginia National Guard's primary training installation near Kingwood. The six electric-only sites are run by the nonprofit Camp Dawson Event Center, which also manages the base's hotel-style lodging, restaurant, and gym — RV guests get access to the same amenities, including a swimming pool, free laundry, and a small on-site restaurant. The lakeside setting is popular for fishing (no WV state license required on base) and paddle boating, and the surrounding grounds offer plenty of space to walk, jog, or bike. It's a quiet, rural stop that gets busy in summer, so booking ahead is worthwhile.

Important Info
Electric hookups only — no water or sewer at sites, and no RV dump station on-site. Sites are on gravel and may flood during heavy rain. Open to active duty, National Guard, Reservists, retired military, 0–100% disabled veterans, Purple Heart recipients, former POWs, veteran caregivers, and DoD civilians with valid ID.
