Easter Posey Campground
Overview
Redstone Arsenal's MWR runs two distinct camping options on post in Huntsville, Alabama. Easter Posey Campground sits along the Tennessee River on Shields Road — 23 sites, each with water and electric hookups, plus a sewage dump station at the northwest corner of Buxton and Shields Road. Tent camping is at Easter Posey; to get set up, you register in person at Outdoor Recreation, Building 5139 Sportsman Drive. The separate RV Park off Goss Road is a different operation entirely — 90 paved pull-through pads with full hookups, a laundry facility, and two bath houses. No tent camping there. Maximum stay at the RV Park is sixty days, and reservations open up to ninety calendar days out. Access to Redstone Arsenal is required before you can use either facility, so confirm your base access status first, then call to check availability.

Important Info
Smaller and older of Redstone Arsenal's two campgrounds (distinct from the larger 42-site "RV Park") — wooded, on the Tennessee River, with water/electric hookups. RVs over 30 ft are not recommended due to site depth and access. Located at the isolated southern end of the arsenal near a water treatment facility and munitions test ranges — no nearby shops. Nearest open gate after 6pm Fridays is Martin Road (~20 min); Redstone Road gate is faster on weekdays. Access restricted to DoD ID holders. Call the Redstone Arsenal Outdoor Recreation office to confirm which campground you're booking.
