Weston Lake Recreation Area
Overview
Weston Lake Recreation Area sits on Fort Jackson in Columbia, SC — about five minutes from Gate 5. The Army Travel Camp runs full hook-up RV sites with 30/50-amp electric, sewer, and water, and all sites are back-in, handling rigs up to 50 feet. A communal bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets serves the camping area. Pets are welcome on a 6-foot leash with the owner present. Beyond RV camping, the area includes tent pads with electric and water, primitive tent sites, lakefront cabins, and rental watercraft — canoes, kayaks, paddleboats, and jon boats. Fishing on Weston Lake requires both a state license and a post permit through iSportsman. Extended stays beyond the standard policy are available only to active-duty personnel with PCS orders or schooling on Fort Jackson. Access is limited to authorized DoD patrons — this is not open to the general public. Cabin reservations open 90 days out for active duty and 60 days for other eligible patrons.
