Camp Carlson Army Recreation Area
Overview
Camp Carlson Army Recreation Area sits on 65 acres at Fort Knox, Kentucky, with a 25-acre lake that holds catfish, bluegill, crappie, and bass. The campground offers full hook-up sites with 30/50 amp electric, sewer, laundry, restrooms and showers, a dump station, and a playground. Pets are welcome on leash, and picnic tables are on-site. Fort Knox is home to the Army's Armor School and the U.S. Bullion Depository, and Camp Carlson operates as part of that installation's MWR program. Beyond the RV sites, the area includes group cabins, furnished family cottages, a 9-hole disc golf course, and a large event hall with a full kitchen. Access is open to active-duty, retired military, National Guard, Reserves, DoD civilians, and their families — a valid DoD ID card is required.
