Lake Frederick Recreation Area
Overview
Lake Frederick Recreation Area sits on a catch-and-release lake 7 miles from the United States Military Academy at West Point and about 50 miles north of New York City. The area offers 50 tent sites, 8 bunk houses with heat and A/C, and RV camping. Electric hookups run 30/50 amp, and the bathhouse provides hot showers. Coin-operated laundry is on site, and picnic tables are available at many sites. The lake includes one ADA fishing pier, a swim beach open Memorial Day through Labor Day, hiking trails, and a main office that rents canoes, paddle boats, and rowboats and sells firewood. A volleyball court and basketball court round out the activity options. Note that the area closes August 3rd through August 10th annually in support of Cadet Summer Training. Check-in for RV and tent sites is at 1 p.m.; checkout is 11 a.m. Call the Lake Frederick Office at (315) 774-9483 to make a reservation, and confirm current access requirements and availability before you head out.
