Overview
Lunga Park (Quantico's recreational camping area) sits on a lake at Marine Corps Base Quantico in northern Virginia, about 8 miles from the main base — recently rebuilt and reopened by MCCS after years of closure. It's a scenic, rustic lakeside spot with RV sites (some full hookup, some partial), tent camping, and rustic cabin rentals, set among woods where deer and wildlife are abundant and mist rises off the lake at dawn. On-site are a general store and boathouse, watercraft rentals, a boat dock, beach volleyball, a playground, grills, and pavilions. Its location is a standout: you can take the Virginia Railway Express from Quantico straight into Washington, D.C., making it a favorite base for sightseeing the capital without the traffic.

Rustic facilities — restrooms are outhouses/portable units with no showers, so best suited to self-contained RVs. Open 7 days a week, sunrise to sunset. No wading or swimming allowed at the lake. Pets allowed on leash. A base fishing permit is required (bait available at the general store). Reservations recommended for full-hookup sites.
