Dyess AFB FamCamp
Overview
Dyess AFB FamCamp is a straightforward, no-frills campground on Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas, with 24 sites (18 full hookup) that accommodate big rigs, plus a small separate tent-camping field. It's a practical overnight stop along I-20, close to the base commissary and exchange, with aircraft static displays lining the road in. Most sites are occupied by long-term active-duty residents, so short-stay travelers should call ahead to confirm availability — there are typically only a couple of open sites at a time.
