Malmstrom AFB FamCamp
Overview
Malmstrom AFB runs two separate FamCamps in Great Falls, MT — one on base (Annex) and one just outside the main gate (Gateway). The Annex has 25 full hook-up sites with 30-amp electric, water, and sewer, plus a dump station and picnic tables at each site; showers are available at the nearby Fitness Center. Gateway offers 25 full hook-up sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer, along with on-site coin laundry, restrooms, and showers. Both camps run fully May 1 through September 30. Winter camping (October through April) is Gateway only, RVs only, with water available above 32°F and hookups limited to power when temps drop. Malmstrom is home to the 341st Missile Wing, positioned in north-central Montana roughly 2.5 hours from both Glacier National Park and the Canadian border. Reservations are by phone only — call Outdoor Recreation at (406) 731-2224. Stays max out at 21 nights per visit and 180 nights in any 365-day period. Two separate camping areas: the main FamCamp inside the base, and Gateway FamCamp just outside the main gate (easier access, no base entry needed). Water/electric/sewer hookups, mostly level concrete pads. Reservations by phone only, up to 6 months ahead; max 21-night stays. Open campfires prohibited near flight lines/grasslands — propane/charcoal grills only, further restricted during burn bans. 180-day annual stay cap without a commander's waiver.
