Camp Hale
Overview
Camp Hale is Fort Carson's newly rebuilt, state-of-the-art campground just outside the base's Gate 6 in Colorado Springs, offering 50 full-hookup pull-through RV pads and 8 cabins (including one ADA-accessible unit). Previously a rustic tent-only site known as Camp Falcon, it was completely renovated and reopened under the new name in 2024. A welcome center handles check-in and reservations and stocks snacks and camping essentials, and the grounds include laundry facilities, showers, and restrooms. Hiking trails run through the property and connect across the highway to Cheyenne Mountain State Park, and campers also have access to Fort Carson's Outdoor Recreation programs — whitewater rafting, paintball, a challenge course, mountain biking, and ice/rock climbing. On-site you'll find laundry, restrooms, showers, and a check-in center that sells snacks and basic camping supplies. Fishing is accessible at four nearby reservoirs — Northside, Hanes, Womack, and Townsend — off Butts Airfield; a permit is required. Winter rules (November 1 through March 31) restrict water hook-ups to tank-filling only — no exceptions. To make a reservation, call (719) 526-6590 or (719) 217-3327 if the main line is busy. Important Info
Open only to DoD ID holders and their families (active duty, veterans, Reserve, and DoD civilians). Children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult at all times — no exceptions. Bikes require helmets on Fort Carson property. Bears are active in the area — all food must be locked in your camper or cabin at night; bird/animal feeders are not permitted. Maximum stay is 30 days. Cancellations require 48 hours' notice; cabin cancellations forfeit the first night's deposit ($125). After-hours emergencies: Military Police (719) 526-2333, or 911.
