Valdez Glacier Campground
Overview
Valdez Glacier Campground is a Fort Greely MWR operation in Valdez, Alaska, running from May 22 through Labor Day. The campground offers 81 standard tent sites, 8 non-electric RV pads, and 13 electric RV pads rated at 20/30 or 50 amp. Two large group camping areas, four dry cabins, and a staffed entrance office round out what's available. Picnic tables and fire rings are at every site, and a bathhouse with hot showers serves registered guests around the clock. Reservations are required for RV electric pads, dry cabins, and group areas. Tent sites and non-electric RV pads are first-come, first-served. Military rates apply to active duty, Guard, Reserve, retirees, and veterans with a valid ID. The campground sits in a high bear traffic area — the rules on unattended food are firm, and fish cleaning on the grounds carries a $300 fee. Call the reservations office at (907) 873-4795 to book or confirm access eligibility before you head up. The camp host is available during business hours if you need on-site help.
