Murphy's Meadow Recreation Area
Overview
Murphy's Meadow Recreation Area sits inside McAlester Army Ammunition Plant in McAlester, Oklahoma. The campground offers short-term sites, with most carrying water, sewer, and electrical hook-ups. A coin-operated laundry facility is on-site, along with shared restrooms and showers. Rates run $14 per night for water/sewer/electric or water/electric sites, and $10 per night for primitive tent-only camping. Golden Age Pass holders get 25% off primitive sites. Outdoor Recreation operates out of Building 711 and is open Monday through Thursday 6:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., Friday 8:30 a.m.–5:00 p.m., and closed weekends and federal holidays. 17 camper pads on the edge of Brown Lake, with coin laundry, playground, and sand volleyball. No reservations — pay via drop-box envelope at the entrance upon arrival, then report to Outdoor Recreation (Bldg. 711) the next business day to formalize.
