JB Charleston RV Park
Overview
JB Charleston RV Park (the base FamCamp) sits on the Air Base side of Joint Base Charleston, about 20–25 minutes from historic downtown Charleston and just off I-26. It offers roughly 40 full-hookup RV sites — a mix of back-in and pull-through across an older and a newer section — plus about 4 overflow spaces and 6 tent sites, with level, meticulously maintained concrete pads, many with long patios and good shade in the older section. On-site are clean restrooms, showers, a laundry facility, and a dump station; the base adds a commissary, exchange, golf course, bowling center, and fitness center nearby. It's a well-run, no-frills park with praised camp hosts and regular security patrols. Expect aircraft noise (it's beside the airfield) and the daily bugle calls — reveille at 7 AM, taps at 10 PM.

Reservations are taken by phone only, Monday–Friday 9:00 AM–5:00 PM — call (843) 963-1732 or (843) 963-1672. Walk-ins welcome but may be placed in overflow if full-hookup sites are unavailable. Both gates are open 24/7. Open to active duty (not stationed at JB Charleston), retirees, 100% disabled veterans, and DoD ID cardholders; policies on dependents vary, so confirm eligibility when you call. Pets allowed with rules. A valid military ID is required for base access. Located at 101 Scarton Lane, Bldg 647. Always confirm current rates and availability before you travel.
