Mountain Home AFB FamCamp
Overview
Mountain Home AFB FamCamp sits on Mountain Home Air Force Base in southwest Idaho, about 50 miles southeast of Boise. It's a small, tidy park — around 22 full-hookup sites (20/30/50-amp, water, sewer) on paved streets with concrete pads and picnic tables, plus electric-only sites and a large gravel overflow area for dry camping. On-site are a clean, well-kept bathhouse with showers and free laundry, plus a dump station and water fill by the overflow. It's within two miles of the base commissary, exchange, and gas station, and makes a great launch point for southern Idaho's outdoor recreation — CJ Strike Reservoir for fishing (about 9 miles), Bruneau Dunes State Park (home to North America's tallest single-structured sand dune), and the Oregon Trail history at Three Island Crossing. The sweet spot for a visit is mid-May through late September.

Important Info
Full-hookup sites require a reservation, made through the FamCamp's online system — the staff confirm your request, you pay when booking, and your site number and restroom code are texted/emailed to you (self-service, no personal contact at check-in). No-reservation visitors can use the gravel overflow (dry, no hookups) with self-pay at the kiosk by the shower building. No WiFi at sites (available in the Gunfighter Service Center lobby and base library). Big rigs must use Lane 3 (far right) at the gate. Open year-round to active duty, National Guard, Reservists, retirees, 0–100% DAV, Purple Heart recipients, and DoD civilians.
